Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has launched fresh attacks against President William Ruto, making explosive claims about the luxury jet allegedly used during the President’s recent trip to Azerbaijan.
Speaking while in the United Kingdom on May 22, Gachagua alleged that President Ruto travelled aboard a highly luxurious private jet fitted with expensive amenities including a spa, jacuzzi, massage facilities, and other high-end features.
The former DP further sensationally claimed that after the trip, the aircraft was allegedly hidden in Mombasa to avoid public attention and scrutiny from Kenyans.
His remarks quickly sparked reactions online, with supporters and critics debating the claims and the growing political fallout between the two former allies.
Gachagua’s comments come at a time when President Ruto has been facing criticism from sections of Kenyans over the high cost of living and rising fuel prices, issues that dominated public discussions during the President’s foreign trip.
During the Azerbaijan visit, President Ruto attended the World Urban Forum where he spoke about Kenya’s affordable housing programme and urban development agenda.
Gachagua, who was impeached after falling out with President Ruto, has in recent months intensified his criticism of the Kenya Kwanza administration, signaling the deepening political rift between the two leaders.
