A rising TikTok sensation known as Mama Fua, whose catchphrase "Toa Nguo Nakuja" has gone viral, has opened up about her life journey and the struggles she has faced along the way.
Mama Fua, whose real name is Jane Muthoni, is a 29-year-old single mother of two from Kayole, Nairobi. She has gained massive popularity on TikTok for her humorous and motivational videos, where she encourages people to embrace domestic work with pride. Behind the laughter and entertainment, however, is a story of resilience and determination.
Jane started her cleaning business five years ago after struggling to make ends meet. With no formal education and limited job opportunities, she turned to cleaning services to support her children. “I would wake up at 4 a.m. every day to clean homes, and sometimes I’d only earn Ksh 500 for a whole day’s work,” she recalled.
Despite the hardships, Jane refused to give up. She started posting TikTok videos during her free time, showcasing her daily cleaning routines with a humorous twist. Her authenticity and witty personality quickly caught the attention of fans, and her account grew to over 500,000 followers.
“TikTok has changed my life,” Jane said. “People now respect me and my work. I’ve even been able to expand my cleaning business and hire two assistants.”
However, her journey hasn’t been without challenges. Jane spoke candidly about dealing with online trolls and balancing her newfound fame with her responsibilities as a mother. “Some people don’t understand that this is my livelihood. But I choose to focus on the positive,” she said.
As she looks to the future, Jane hopes to inspire more people, especially women, to pursue their dreams no matter the odds. “Your beginning doesn’t define your end. If I can do it, so can you,” she concluded.
Jane Muthoni’s story is a testament to the power of resilience and the beauty of finding purpose in even the simplest of tasks.
