Simon Nyachae, born on February 6, 1932, was a prominent Kenyan politician, businessman, and community leader. 

The son of colonial chief Musa Nyandusi, he pursued education at Nyanchwa Seventh-day Adventist School and later studied public administration in the UK at Churchill College, Cambridge.

Nyachae’s career began in 1954 as a district clerk, eventually rising to Chief Secretary under Presidents Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel arap Moi. His transition into politics in 1992 saw him elected as Nyaribari Chache MP. Over the years, he held key ministerial roles in Agriculture, Finance, Energy, and Roads.

 In 2002, he vied for the presidency under Ford–People, finishing third but securing parliamentary seats for his party. After losing his seat in 2007, he retired from politics.

Beyond politics, Nyachae was a successful businessman with investments in real estate, agriculture, and banking. He was a major shareholder in NCBA Group and co-owned Credit Bank with his fifth wife, Grace Wamuyu.

A polygamous man, Nyachae had six wives and over 35 children. His third wife, Martha Mwango, bore Charles Nyachae, now an East African Court of Justice judge. His son, Moses, described him as a hardworking and disciplined man.

Nyachae passed away on February 1, 2021, after a long battle with cancer. In November 2024, a legal dispute emerged within his family over the management of Associated Auto Centre, highlighting ongoing struggles in preserving his vast legacy.
