Fresh details have emerged surrounding the burial arrangements of late gospel singer Rachael Wandeto, with reports indicating a growing disagreement between her husband’s family and her relatives over who should oversee her final send-off.
Rachael, whose death shocked many Kenyans after she reportedly suffered severe burns during a petrol attack in Mwiki, is now at the center of a painful family dispute even before burial plans are finalized.
According to reports, her husband, identified as Peter Njaramba, has allegedly been blocked from leading the burial arrangements despite reportedly living with the singer for 14 years and raising three children together.
The disagreement is said to have emerged after Rachael’s family insisted that she should be buried at her father’s home in Kirinyaga County instead of her matrimonial home.
Speaking during an interview on Paxson TV, a sister to the widower claimed the family was deeply hurt after being informed that Peter could not officially bury his wife because some traditional dowry requirements had allegedly not been completed.
According to her, the situation has caused emotional pain to the family considering the couple had spent many years together as husband and wife.
She further revealed that the couple’s children are still struggling emotionally following their mother’s death and continue asking when she will return home.
The family also claimed that few relatives from Rachael’s side had visited the children since the tragic incident, something they say has added to the grief.
The burial dispute has since sparked mixed reactions online, with many Kenyans debating the role of traditional customs, marriage recognition, and family rights during bulrial arrangements.
