Nderitu Gachagua’s Son Accuses Rigathi Gachagua for Framing Him in Family Estate Dispute

  •  Jackson Kihara has accused former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of orchestrating his prosecution.
  • The claims were made in court during an application to review his 20-year prison sentence.
  • Kihara alleges the case was linked to a family inheritance dispute over a multimillion-shilling estate.
  • The court has not yet ruled on the application.
  • Rigathi Gachagua had not publicly responded to the allegations by the time of publication.

A fresh legal and family dispute linked to the influential Gachagua family has emerged after Jackson Kihara accused former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of allegedly orchestrating his prosecution in a robbery with violence case.

Kihara made the claims before High Court Judge Alexander Muteti while seeking a review of the 20-year sentence handed to him following his conviction.

According to court submissions, Kihara argued that he was unfairly targeted as part of a larger succession dispute involving the estate of the late Nderitu Gachagua.

He claimed the criminal case was allegedly used to sideline him from the battle over valuable family property and inheritance rights.

During the proceedings, Kihara maintained that he had suffered injustice and asked the court to reconsider both the conviction and the sentence imposed on him. He also appealed for leniency, telling the court that he had reformed during his time in prison.

The application has attracted significant public attention due to the political profile of the family and the serious nature of the allegations being raised.

However, the claims remain allegations presented in court, and no judicial finding has been made linking Rigathi Gachagua to the prosecution case.

The High Court did not immediately issue a ruling, with Judge Muteti expected to study submissions from both the defence and prosecution before delivering a decision at a later date.

By the time of publication, Rigathi Gachagua and his legal team had not publicly responded to the accusations.

The latest court developments are expected to renew public interest in the long-running wrangles surrounding the Gachagua family estate, which has previously generated political and legal debate.

As the matter proceeds through the courts, attention will now shift to whether the judge upholds Kihara’s sentence or allows a review based on the arguments presented before the court.
