Bad News To JSS Parents As New Details Emerges Over Teachers Being Forced To Teach Wrong Subjects

Junior Secondary School (JSS) parents have been hit with worrying news after revelations that many teachers are being compelled to handle subjects they were never trained to teach.

The situation has raised fresh concerns about the quality of education being offered under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

A viral video shared online showed an English teacher lamenting how she has been forced to teach Mathematics and Integrated Science, despite lacking professional training in those areas. According to her, the move has not only lowered her morale but also compromised the effectiveness of her lessons, leaving learners at a disadvantage.

Teachers across the country echoed similar frustrations, saying they are burdened with heavy workloads and resorting to improvised teaching methods.

They warned that the crisis, if not addressed urgently, risks producing a generation of students struggling with fundamental subjects.

Education stakeholders are now demanding urgent reforms, including structural adjustments and autonomy for JSS teachers. They argue that unless the government hires more specialized teachers and streamlines subject allocations, learners will continue to suffer the consequences of misplaced priorities.

Parents, on the other hand, have expressed fear that their children’s academic foundation could be compromised, especially in core subjects like Mathematics and Science.

The Ministry of Education has yet to issue a clear roadmap on resolving the crisis, leaving both teachers and parents in deep uncertainty about the future of JSS learning.
