Explosive Court Evidence Reveals President Ruto’s Private Call to Rigathi Gachagua’s Doctor

  •  William Ruto reportedly called Daniel Gikonyo during Rigathi Gachagua’s hospital admission
  • Details emerged in a sworn affidavit filed in court
  • Call allegedly happened during heated Senate impeachment proceedings in October 2024
  • Doctor says Gachagua was admitted with severe chest pain at Karen Hospital
  • Affidavit adds fresh attention to the constitutional case challenging the impeachment process
  • Court yet to determine the legal weight of the new evidence

Fresh court revelations have introduced a dramatic new angle to the ongoing constitutional case surrounding the removal of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

At the centre of the latest developments is a sworn affidavit by renowned cardiologist Daniel Gikonyo, who disclosed that William Ruto personally contacted him while Gachagua was receiving treatment at Karen Hospital during the tense impeachment period.

According to the affidavit presented before the court, the president allegedly made the call on October 17, 2024, at a time when the Senate was actively handling impeachment proceedings against his deputy.

Dr. Gikonyo stated that he was attending to Gachagua when the call came through and that the Head of State sought an update on the former deputy president’s medical condition.

The doctor reportedly confirmed that Gachagua had been admitted and was under medical care.

While the affidavit does not accuse the president of wrongdoing, the disclosure has intensified public and political interest in the case due to the timing of the communication and the broader political tensions surrounding the impeachment process.

Dr. Gikonyo further told the court that he has treated Gachagua since 2006, indicating a long-standing doctor-patient relationship and familiarity with his medical history.

In his testimony, the cardiologist explained that Gachagua was admitted to hospital at around 3 p.m. after experiencing severe chest pain. Medical experts generally treat such symptoms as urgent because they can indicate serious heart-related complications, especially among older patients or those with underlying conditions.

The affidavit now forms part of a wider body of evidence being examined by the court as judges seek to establish what transpired during the politically charged impeachment period.

The case continues to attract nationwide attention, with legal experts and political observers closely monitoring whether the new details could influence the court’s interpretation of events surrounding Gachagua’s removal from office.
