Emali–Ukia MP Mwengi Mutuse has announced steady progress on the ongoing construction of the Emali–Ukia Road, confirming that key sections of the project are advancing as planned.
According to the update, stabilization works using cement are currently ongoing in preparation for asphalt laying from KM 4 up to Nduundune Market. At the same time, earthworks are progressing up to KM 8, while drainage installation is being carried out across the entire stretch starting from Emali Town.
The MP noted that the project is being implemented within the set contract timelines and strict engineering standards to ensure long-term durability and quality of the road once completed.
He further expressed confidence that construction will reach Matiliku by September 2027, depending on the pace of ongoing works and availability of resources. Mutuse also revealed that efforts are underway to secure additional funding for Phase Two, which will extend the road from Matiliku to Ukia.
The legislator emphasized that the road project is a key development priority aimed at improving transport, boosting local trade, and enhancing access to essential services for residents.
He urged leaders to remain focused on delivering tangible development projects that directly benefit wananchi, rather than engaging in political distractions.
Once complete, the Emali–Ukia Road is expected to significantly ease movement and open up new economic opportunities for communities along the route.
