Painful Twist as Mother Dies in Road Accident While Rushing to Save Daughter After Utumishi Girls Fire

A heartbreaking tragedy has emerged following the deadly fire at Utumishi Girls Academy after a mother who was rushing to check on her daughter reportedly lost her life in a fatal road accident.

Gladys Chebet, the mother of student Faith Irine, died after the vehicle she was travelling in was involved in a grisly crash along the Nakuru-Gilgil highway near the Kariandusi and Diatomite area.

According to reports, Chebet and her husband had hurriedly left Nakuru late at night after receiving distressing news about the dormitory fire that caused panic among parents across the country.

Like many affected families, the couple was desperately trying to confirm whether their daughter had survived the tragic inferno that claimed several lives and left dozens injured.

A beautiful photo of the late Gladys Chebet has since surfaced online, touching many Kenyans who described the incident as one of the most painful moments connected to the school tragedy.

Local leaders confirmed that the accident occurred shortly after midnight as the family travelled toward Gilgil. Sadly, Chebet died at the scene while her husband sustained serious injuries and was rushed to hospital for treatment.

In an even more emotional twist, their daughter Faith Irine reportedly survived the dormitory fire physically unharmed. However, the devastating loss of her mother while she was rushing to see her has left many Kenyans deeply heartbroken.

PM Njoroge described the incident as a painful tragedy for both the family and the wider community.

Another parent who spoke about the incident revealed that the couple had initially arrived at the school before learning that their daughter had been taken to hospital alongside other students affected by the fire. It was while travelling to the hospital that the fatal accident occurred near the Kikopey area.

“We were already shaken by the school fire. Then we learnt that some parents travelling that night had been involved in a terrible accident. It was heartbreaking,” the parent said.

Reports indicate that several vehicles, including a Prado, a private car, and a truck transporting cement, were involved in the collision.

As investigations into both the deadly school fire and the road accident continue, messages of condolences have continued pouring in from Kenyans mourning with the family during this painful and emotional period.
