Kenyans Reacts After Famous Rapper Octopizzo Officially Launched Campaigns for Opposition Just Days After Hosting President Ruto's Son
Kibra parliamentary hopeful and rapper Octopizzo has sparked debate on social media after appearing at an opposition rally in Bungoma. The artist shared photos from the event on Sunday, July 26, prompting a wave of reactions from his followers.
Among the images was Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna addressing supporters during the Linda Mwananchi rally, which attracted a large crowd.
Another photo showed Sifuna alongside Embakasi East MP Babu Owino standing on top of an SUV as supporters surrounded the vehicle. Some attendees climbed nearby trees to catch a better view of the proceedings.
The post attracted attention because it came only days after Octopizzo was seen with President William Ruto's son, George Ruto.
During that earlier visit, Octopizzo hosted George at his family home in Ugunja before the two toured parts of Siaya County together. George later shared highlights of the visit on his Instagram account.
The pair had also appeared together in Kisumu during the handover of a bus to Kisumu All Stars, where Octopizzo was among the guests at the event.
With those recent appearances still fresh in the minds of many Kenyans, Octopizzo's presence at the opposition rally generated widespread discussion online. Some social media users viewed it as a sign that he is engaging with leaders from different political camps, while others simply found the contrast noteworthy.
Octopizzo has previously declared his intention to contest the Kibra parliamentary seat, making his participation in political events an issue of growing public interest as the 2027 General Election approaches.
The comment section beneath his post quickly filled with mixed reactions. Some users focused on the size of the crowd at the rally, describing the turnout as impressive. Others referenced his recent meeting with George Ruto and questioned how the two appearances aligned politically.
A number of commenters responded with humour, while others simply observed that the rapper appeared comfortable engaging with leaders across the political divide.
