Police have requested the court to detain him for 21 days to allow further investigations into the gruesome murder allegations.
According to the investigating officer, Wambua was arrested on January 20 at around 5 a.m. in Huruma estate, Nairobi, while carrying a suspicious bag on his back.
Upon being stopped and searched, police discovered human body parts concealed in a cement bag inside the backpack.
The suspect later led authorities to his rented house, where they found additional body parts hidden under his bed. The chilling discovery shocked residents, with many struggling to comprehend the brutality of the crime.
Court documents indicate that Wambua allegedly confessed to killing his wife following an argument after he found her with another man. In his statement, he admitted to dismembering her body in an attempt to dispose of it.
Despite the gruesome nature of the crime, witnesses say that Wambua remained unperturbed as police collected the remains of his wife from the crime scene.
Authorities are now conducting further investigations, with forensic experts analyzing the evidence before formal charges are filed. The case has sparked public outrage, with calls for justice for the victim.
