Isaac Hague Oritcho's academic journey was filled with promise. Scoring 486 marks in KCPE at Kondele Primary, he joined Kisumu Boys High School, where he excelled, earning a B+ in KCSE.
His brilliance secured him a spot at the University of Nairobi, where he graduated in 2007 with first-class honors in Food Science and Technology. Recognized for his excellence, he was placed on the Dean’s List by Prof. Agnes Mwang’ombe.
However, despite his impressive qualifications, Isaac's reality turned bleak. He pursued a master’s degree in Applied Human Nutrition, hoping to boost his career prospects, but instead, it became a barrier.
Over the past 13 years, he has faced relentless rejection, with employers citing him as “overqualified” or lacking experience.
In a 2021 interview with K24, Isaac expressed his frustration. “I sacrificed countless nights, believing education was the key to success. Now, disappointment surrounds me.” He has applied for over 1,000 jobs in various sectors, from health and NGOs to food factories and universities, yet opportunities remain elusive.
Once full of hope, Isaac now struggles with despair. His story is a stark reminder that academic excellence alone does not guarantee success in a challenging job market.
