Mary Biketi, the outspoken girlfriend of Cabinet Secretary (CS) Wycliffe Oparanya, has broken her silence following a storm of rumors circulating online about her cars allegedly being repossessed.
The controversy began when claims spread on social media suggesting that Oparanya had repossessed one of Biketi’s luxury cars to hand it over to a new romantic partner. The claims sparked heated conversations among Kenyans, with many speculating about the state of her relationship with the CS.
In a strongly worded response posted on her social media pages, Biketi dismissed the allegations as baseless gossip meant to tarnish her image. She insisted that she is far from suffering, pointing out that she owned her cars long before Oparanya became a Cabinet Secretary.
“I am not suffering like you idiots,” she wrote, adding that her “bae” Oparanya had already bought her cars even before joining the Cabinet. Biketi further ridiculed those spreading the rumors, claiming most of them rely on the Hustler Fund for survival.
She went on to lecture critics who alleged that she had relocated to Syokimau after losing her car. “Do I look like someone who can live in Syokimau?” she posed defiantly, stressing that she maintains her lifestyle without depending on handouts.
The fiery response has since drawn mixed reactions. Some Kenyans accused her of arrogance and insensitivity to the economic hardships ordinary citizens are facing, while others defended her right to clarify her position and protect her reputation.
This is not the first time public figures close to politicians have found themselves entangled in controversy over lifestyle matters. With Oparanya being a seasoned politician and now a Cabinet Secretary, public scrutiny of his private life seems unlikely to fade.
As of now, CS Oparanya has not commented on the matter, leaving his girlfriend’s sharp rebuttal as the only official response to the swirling rumors.
