Celebrated Kenyan DJ and actress Pierra Makena has broken her silence over long-standing rumours linking gospel DJ Mo to her daughter Ricca Pokot. Speaking during an interview with TV47, Makena opened up about the emotional weight the speculation carried, especially because DJ Mo is married to her close friend, gospel singer Size 8.
Makena candidly admitted that at some point, even she noticed a resemblance between DJ Mo and her daughter. “I thought to myself, ‘Where are you, DJ Mo?’ as I looked at my child,” she said, chuckling. However, she firmly dismissed the claims, saying, “I would have claimed it was his baby if Mo and I had ever been involved.”
Despite both parties finding the rumours laughable, Makena expressed concern that the gossip might have negatively affected DJ Mo’s marriage. “Mo and I were just giggling during all of that because we are close friends. However, I was concerned that it would begin to impact my friend Size 8,” she said. Makena emphasized that while the resemblance sparked curiosity among fans, there was absolutely no romantic involvement between her and Mo.
Over the years, Makena has kept the identity of her daughter’s father private. However, the rumour mill has previously hinted that flamboyant politician Steve Mbogo may be linked to her child, though Makena has never confirmed this publicly.
In a more uplifting turn of events, Makena proudly announced her 9-year-old daughter’s entrance into the media world. Ricca now co-hosts the Saturday Morning Show on Akili TV, a milestone that filled her mother with joy and pride.
Makena praised her daughter’s confidence and talent, calling it a sign of greatness to come. “She’s already shining at just nine,” the proud mother beamed.
