"Turn Up in Large Numbers" Sifuna Calls for a Massive Linda Mwanainchi Rally at Jacaranda Grounds, Date Confirmed

A faction within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) aligned to the Linda Mwananchi movement has announced plans to hold a rally at Jacaranda Grounds on Sunday, March 8.

The gathering is expected to counter a separate meeting organised by leaders allied to ODM party leader Oburu Odinga regarding the implementation of the 10-point Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed last year between the late Raila Odinga and President William Ruto.

The Linda Mwananchi faction, led by Senator Edwin Sifuna and Governor James Orengo, has urged supporters to turn up in large numbers as they present what they describe as a parallel report on the implementation of the MoU.

According to the two leaders, the report will capture the views of various stakeholders regarding the progress and impact of the agreement.

The Sifuna-led team has been pushing for ODM to cut ties with President Ruto’s administration, arguing that the pact has not served the interests of ordinary Kenyans. However, the camp allied to Oburu Odinga wants the agreement extended, insisting it still provides a framework for addressing national challenges.

Earlier this week, leaders in Oburu’s camp dismissed concerns about the expiry of the 10-point agenda committee’s timeline, maintaining that the implementation process is ongoing and continuous.

Meanwhile, ODM Chairperson Gladys Wanga revealed that the party and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) will convene a joint Parliamentary Group meeting next week to review the progress made in implementing the agenda agreed upon last year.
