Moses Kuria Sends Strong Message to Mt Kenya After President Ruto UDA Won All Three By-Elections

  • Moses Kuria reacted after UDA won all three by-elections held on May 14.
  • He claimed President William Ruto can still win re-election without Mt Kenya votes.
  • Kuria argued that UDA’s support base outside Mt Kenya remains numerically strong.
  • His remarks are expected to spark fresh political debate within the region ahead of 2027.
  • The former Gatundu South MP said he will continue repeating the message despite criticism.

Former Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has stirred fresh political debate after sending a strong message to the Mt Kenya region following the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) victory in all three by-elections conducted on May 14, 2026.

Reacting to the results, Kuria described UDA’s clean sweep as further proof that President William Ruto remains politically strong across several regions in the country ahead of the 2027 General Election.

According to Kuria, the by-election outcomes support his long-held argument that Ruto could still secure a second term even without overwhelming support from the Mt Kenya region.

The former Cabinet Secretary stated that the President’s support base in regions such as Rift Valley, Coast, North Eastern, and other parts of the country is large enough to influence the final national outcome.

Kuria referred to what he described as the “Tyranny of Numbers” versus the “Tyranny of Small Numbers,” arguing that voter population and turnout in multiple regions may ultimately carry more political weight than the voting pattern of a single bloc.

His remarks came shortly after UDA candidates emerged victorious in the Emurua Dikirr parliamentary by-election as well as MCA contests in Samburu and Elgeyo/Marakwet.

The Emurua Dikirr race attracted nationwide attention after it was viewed by many political observers as a contest linked to the growing rivalry between President William Ruto and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Following the UDA victories, Kuria maintained that the latest results reflect a broader national political trend that should not be ignored.

The outspoken politician also said he would continue sharing the same political message regularly despite criticism from some leaders and residents within the Mt Kenya region.

His comments are now likely to fuel further political discussions as parties and leaders intensify preparations for the 2027 elections.
