Kiambu Couple Attacked, Robbed & Gang-Raped After Road Accident in Kikuyu
A couple is recovering in hospital after they were attacked, robbed and one of them was allegedly gang-raped following a road accident in Kikuyu Sub-County, Kiambu County.
Police have launched investigations and are pursuing two suspects believed to have carried out the violent attack, which happened in the early hours of Thursday at the KARLO Forest–Renguti Junction in the Kerwa area.
How the Kikuyu Road Accident Turned Into a Violent Attack
According to police, the couple was driving home at around 5:30 a.m. when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The car veered off the road and landed in a ditch on a nearby farm.
Shortly after the crash, two men reportedly approached the stranded couple, pretending to offer help. However, investigators say the suspects suddenly turned on the victims, threatened them with knives and robbed them of their mobile phones.
The attackers allegedly forced the victims to reveal their M-Pesa PINs before withdrawing an undisclosed amount of money from their mobile wallets. They later fled the scene.
Woman Allegedly Gang-Raped During the Attack
Police say one of the victims was subjected to a gang rape during the ordeal, while both victims sustained injuries.
Members of the public later rescued the couple and rushed them to P.C.E.A. Kikuyu Hospital, where they are receiving treatment.
Police Launch Manhunt for Suspects
A team led by the Kikuyu Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer, alongside crime scene investigators and traffic officers, visited and processed the scene.
During the investigation, detectives recovered several empty alcohol bottles from inside the crashed vehicle, which have been retained as exhibits.
Police say investigations are ongoing as officers work to identify and arrest the two suspects behind the attack.
