Sad Moments As Elderly Woman Set Ablaze Inside Newly Gifted Bungalow By USA Sons & Daughters, in Nyamira Kisii
Mystery shrouds an attack that has left a family in Nyamira County devastated after a 64-year-old woman who lived alone in a newly gifted bungalow was allegedly set ablaze in what residents believe could have been an acid attack.
According to reports, Jane Kwamboka described as the mother of a son and a daughter was alone in the house during the night of July 29, 2026, when she was reportedly attacked while in deep sleep.
The woman’s relatives say the property was newly constructed in 2025 through support from her children, with the son and daughter believed to have commissioned the home after her moving in to live independently.
Investigators and community members say the attack appears to have been carried out in a sudden and violent manner.
Photographs shared by locals show that the bedroom where Kwamboka slept was badly burnt, with visible damage to the walls and bedding.
Broken pieces of glass were also scattered around the homestead, suggesting that windows may have been shattered during the incident or while the fire raged.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that the alarm was raised after members of the family abroad were informed of the situation.
One resident told journalists that they were contacted by Kwamboka’s son and daughter, who reside and work in the United States, asking what could possibly have happened.
The family then learned that the woman had been attacked and that the home had been engulfed in flames.
