Bad News for Edwin Sifuna, Babu Owino and James Orengo as Oburu Odinga Sends them a Strong ODM Message
Veteran politician Oburu Odinga has reaffirmed that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) remains a national political force, but at the same time declared that no member is forced to stay in the party sparking fresh political debate ahead of 2027.
Politics in Suba North took a dramatic turn after Oburu Odinga delivered a bold statement about the future of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
Speaking to residents, Oburu emphasized that ODM is not a small regional outfit but a national party with deep roots across Kenya. According to him, ODM has significantly shaped Kenya’s democratic journey, producing influential leaders and maintaining a strong presence in multiple counties.
However, in what many see as a sharp political signal to leaders like Edwin Sifuna, Babu Owino and James Orengo, Oburu made it clear that politics is about freedom of association.
He stated that anyone who feels dissatisfied or politically fatigued within ODM should not feel trapped. Kenya, he noted, is a multiparty democracy with several registered political parties offering alternative visions for the country.
“Democracy thrives when citizens are free to choose,” he implied, stressing that loyalty should be voluntary, not forced.
While reaffirming ODM’s importance in Kenya’s political landscape, Oburu’s message carried a subtle reminder: unity must be built on mutual respect and shared vision not obligation.
His remarks come at a time when internal party debates and succession politics continue to dominate national conversations ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Whether this signals cracks within ODM or simply reinforces democratic ideals remains to be seen. But one thing is clear the political season is slowly heating up.
