Rigathi Gachagua Alleges William Ruto Ordered NIS to Record Kisumu Meeting with Johanna Ng’eno
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has made explosive claims against President William Ruto, alleging that the National Intelligence Service (NIS) was instructed to secretly record his private meeting with the late MP Johanna Ng’eno in Kisumu.
Speaking publicly about the incident, Gachagua said Ng’eno whom he described as his “great friend, political ally and confidant” had reached out to him before he left office. According to Gachagua, the late legislator expressed fears that certain political plans were underway that could destabilise the government.
“And I was in Kisumu, he came to see me, and once Ruto learned that he was coming to see me in Kisumu, he sent the National Intelligence Service to bug my room so that he could record the conversation between Johanna Ng’eno and me,” Gachagua claimed.
He further stated: “We had a big discussion, and he told me what he was going through and the way he was being persecuted for fighting for the rights of the Kipisigis people. He told me that a plan had been hatched to remove me from office because I was also fighting for the interest of my community.”
The allegations are likely to spark major political debate in Kenya, especially amid ongoing tensions within the ruling coalition. If true, the claims raise serious questions about state surveillance, political rivalry, and internal power struggles at the highest levels of government.
As the story unfolds, Kenyans are now waiting to see whether President Ruto or the National Intelligence Service will respond to the accusations.
