George Natembeya has hinted at a major political realignment ahead of the 2027 General Election, declaring that cooperation between the United Opposition and the Linda Mwananchi movement is now unavoidable.

Speaking during an event in Trans-Nzoia County, the governor dismissed speculation of divisions within opposition ranks and insisted that leaders opposed to President William Ruto are already moving toward a common political strategy.

Natembeya urged opposition leaders to put aside personal ambitions and focus on what he described as a broader mission to “rescue the country.”

According to the governor, discussions between various opposition groups are expected to intensify once internal disagreements within Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) are resolved.

The remarks come amid growing pressure on opposition leaders to unite and avoid splitting votes in the next presidential race.

Edwin Sifuna, who is associated with the Linda Mwananchi faction, has also warned that a divided opposition could weaken chances of defeating the Kenya Kwanza administration in 2027.

Sifuna reportedly pointed to the narrow margins witnessed in previous elections, arguing that coalition politics will once again play a decisive role in determining the next presidency.

At the same time, Babu Owino has echoed calls for unity, saying major elections in Kenya are won through broad alliances rather than isolated political camps.

Former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju also weighed in on the matter, reportedly describing failure to unite as a costly political mistake.

Meanwhile, Rigathi Gachagua is said to have expressed willingness to support a consensus opposition candidate if it increases the chances of unseating President Ruto.

The emerging coalition talks now signal a possible high-stakes political battle as rival camps begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.

Political analysts believe the coming months could witness intensified negotiations, shifting alliances, and strategic partnerships as opposition leaders seek to build a united front against the ruling administration.
