Oburu Odinga has publicly resurfaced after days of speculation surrounding his health and whereabouts, assuring supporters that he is safe, healthy, and continuing with his normal activities.
The veteran politician appeared in a video recorded at the Nyanza Golf Club, where he was seen enjoying a round of golf and interacting calmly away from the political spotlight.
In the video shared on Friday, May 8, Oburu dismissed growing rumours that had circulated online following his absence from public events for nearly two weeks.
“Thank you for your concerns about my whereabouts. I am here in Kisumu, buoyant and up and about, playing golf,” he said while wishing Kenyans a pleasant weekend.
The Siaya Senator also shared photos from the golf course, accompanied by a short message indicating he was “up and grateful,” a move that quickly reassured supporters across social media.
The clarification came shortly after Philip Etale addressed mounting public concern over Oburu’s prolonged absence from political activities.
Etale stated that the ODM leader was in good condition and remained actively involved in party affairs despite missing some recent engagements.
Concern had intensified after Oburu skipped the Orange Democratic Movement’s high-profile leadership retreat held in Mombasa, where senior party officials met to discuss internal unity and political strategy ahead of future political developments.
According to party insiders, Oburu sent an apology letter to the meeting explaining his absence while encouraging ODM leaders to focus on resolving internal disagreements and avoid rushing into political alignments before formal consultations.
Etale has since confirmed that Oburu is expected to resume public engagements on Saturday during an event linked to the legacy of the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.
His reappearance now appears to have calmed growing speculation that had dominated political discussions in recent days.
