The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has uncovered a police officer's involvement in the murder of Dr. Victoria Mutiso, who was shot dead by armed suspects in Nairobi.
DCI Director Amin Mohamed revealed on July 7, 2026, that Inspector Kenneth Kipkemboi Sang, officer in charge of Nderi Police Post, is a key figure in the conspiracy and is currently on the run.
According to Amin, investigations established that Daniel Mwangi Njoroge and Kelvin Ngugi Kinithia organized and executed the killing. Inspector Sang allegedly served as the link between financiers and the operational team, while also supplying the murder weapon.
"Kenya Police Service officers played very critical roles in the conspiracy," Amin stated.
The two suspects are in custody as detectives pursue other leads, including tracing the financiers and recovering the firearm used in the shooting.
Dr. Mutiso's killing has drawn nationwide condemnation, with calls for accountability and justice. The DCI has urged anyone with information on Inspector Sang's whereabouts to report to the nearest police station, promising that all involved will face prosecution regardless of their rank.
