During a heated parliamentary session yesterday, Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo caused a stir after calling out her colleague, Cliff Gesairo, for what she described as “inappropriate dressing” during House proceedings.

Odhiambo, widely known for her no-nonsense approach, openly criticized Gesairo’s attire, implying that it undermined the dignity of the Parliament. “We know you are from Dubai and you really have nice looks,” she said with heavy sarcasm, “but should you wear that to Parliament, or are you planning to welcome Matiang’i to the country?”

Her remarks drew mixed reactions, with some MPs chuckling at the unexpected jab while others exchanged confused glances. It was clear the moment had unsettled the chamber, shifting the focus from legislative debates to fashion and political loyalty.

Millie Odhiambo didn’t stop there. She went on to suggest that Gesairo’s dress sense was symbolic of his open support for former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, who has been out of the political spotlight for months.

However, Odhiambo reminded the House that while personal style may be a matter of preference, official business in Parliament demands a standard of decorum and seriousness. “This is not a fashion show, and certainly not a reunion for Matiang’i loyalists,” she added.
