Dennis Itumbi Exposes Daily Nation Over Allegedly Misreporting SHA Whistleblower’s Job Saga

Dennis Itumbi, the Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy, has come out strongly against the Daily Nation, accusing the publication of deliberately twisting facts in its reporting on the Social Health Authority (SHA) whistleblower saga.

The controversy stems from a Nation article that linked whistleblower Andrew Rotich’s job application to the alleged loss of his position at SHA.

According to the paper, Rotich was said to have applied for the Deputy Director role, a claim that Itumbi has dismissed as misleading.

In his Friday statement, Itumbi clarified that Rotich had never sought the Deputy Director job. Instead, he noted, Rotich applied for the Assistant Director role and had already been shortlisted for the position.

He accused the newspaper of intentionally misrepresenting facts in a bid to create sensational headlines and mislead the public.

“This is not just a case of careless reporting,” Itumbi remarked. “It is a deliberate attempt to frame a false narrative around a whistleblower who deserves fairness.”

The issue has sparked mixed reactions, with some Kenyans backing Itumbi’s stance, accusing the media of undermining credibility through biased reporting.

Others, however, argued that the matter should be left to institutions like SHA and the Public Service Commission to clarify.

The SHA whistleblower saga continues to raise questions about transparency, media accountability, and the protection of individuals who expose irregularities.
